Synopsis:	This half-day course teaches theoretical and practical aspects of the Seldinger Chest Drain insertion. Chest drain insertion remains a core competency for doctors in emergency and acute medicine and yet training opportunities are limited. This course has been approved by Health Education England working across Yorkshire and the Humber and is recognised at hospitals throughout the region.
Target Audience:	All Trainee Grades
Key Benefits, Format & Learning Outcomes	The aim of this course is to provide you with the knowledge and skills you need in order to prepare and insert a chest drain safely, using a seldinger technique. The programme includes: Indications for drain insertion Complications & drain management A demonstration of the Seldinger Drain Insertion Technique The opportunity to practice on a clinical skills manikin, whilst being supervised by experienced faculty members An assessment of insertion technique The opportunity for further practice & discussion

Additional Information	In order to make the most of the half day course we ask if you could spend some time reviewing and completing the pre-course materials (questionnaire & quiz) on our Virtual Learning Enviroment (VLE). Login details for the VLE will be forwarded to you approx. two weeks prior to the course by the course administrator. Once you have attended the course you will need to complete the post-course materials in order to request a DOP and download your attendance certificate. The course slides will be available for you to view once the course has been completed.
Cancellation Policy	IMPORTANT INFORMATION - CANCELLATION POLICY In the event you need to cancel your place on this course, the following terms and conditions apply: If you have notified us at least 30 days prior to the commencement date of the course, your course fees will be returned minus a £10.00 administration fee. If you have received any course materials these must be returned prior to any refund. Cancellation of your place within 30 days will result in a loss of all fees. However, if there is another course available, you may be able to transfer, but an additional £10.00 administration fee will be incurred.
