Urology Boot Camp 2016

We’ve had a busy few days in Medical Education with the second Urology Boot Camp running throughout the week and into the weekend. This was a national five day training course for newly appointed urology registrars from across the country. Following the successful pilot last year, Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust was chosen as the host organisation for this innovative simulation based course. Simulation provides a safe environment for the trainee and patient in the development of surgical skills and is now firmly established in modern surgical training. The Boot Camp is no exception and trainees had the opportunity to practice and refine various urological procedures on an array of simulators with the guidance and feedback of experienced faculty  ?  over 60 surgeons from across the UK were involved in the course, sharing their expertise with trainees.  The logistics of arranging such an intense and complex course is no mean feat  ?  none of which would have been possible without the dedication and skill of our team here at Medical Education.  We’re proud to be leading the way in training the next generation of surgeons and want to thank all colleagues involved in making this course such a success.
