Basic Practical Skill course (O&G;)

Synopsis

The 3-day course is intended for ST1/2 trainees in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and is a mandatory requirement for entry into ST3. It has been designed to introduce trainees to safe surgical techniques and obstetric clinical skills in a structured workshop environment. The course covers the following topics:

Principles of safe and effective surgery
Handling instruments
Knot tying
Suturing
Handling tissues
Principles of haemostasis and dissection
Principles of electrosurgery
Principles of gynaecological examination
Anatomy of pelvic floor
Episiotomy repair
D & C Evacuation of uterus
Management of normal and breech delivery
Fetal blood sampling
Caesarean section
Ventouse and forceps delivery
Management of shoulder dystocia
Management of massive obstetric haemorrhage
Surgical documentation
Endocsopic equipment
Principles of safe hysteroscopy
Principles of safe laparoscopic entry

In the event that you need to cancel this course, the following terms and conditions apply.

• Cancellation of course 2 months prior to commencement date, course fees will be returned minus £50.00 administration fee. If you received any course materials these must be returned prior to any refund.
• If there is an alternate date available for this course you may transfer your registration, but an administrative fee of £50.00 will be charged to your card.
• Cancellation within 2 months will result in a loss of fees. If there is another course available, you may transfer but a £50.00 administrative fee will be charged to your card.
