About Us

LIMIT, Leeds Institute for Minimally Invasive Therapy opened in 1996 in the Wellcome wing at LGI. The institute rapidly developed a national and International reputation for setting standards for laparoscopic surgery combined with quality multi-professional education programmes.

The institute relocated to SJUH in 2009 and is now housed in Chancellor Wing. Over a number of years the portfolio of services offered by LIMIT has increased and we now offer training and education across all specialities under the umbrella Medical Education Leeds.

The move of the department and the clinical skills lab to the 3rd Floor Chancellor’s Wing, St James’s University Hospital once again increased the  portfolio but maintained a strong laparoscopic theme. In order to better reflect the increasing portfolio and multiple specialities now working within the department LIMIT was renamed LISTA, Leeds Institute for Skills Training and Assessment.
