Emergency Medicine Assessment Day

The first of two Annual Assessment Days for Higher Trainees in Emergency Medicine will take place on Tuesday 7th February at Ward J32, Beckett Wing St James’s University Hospital. These Assessment Days are exam preparation for FCEM which stands for: Fellow of the College of Emergency Medicine.

Andy Webster will be heading up a great collaboration between EM Consultants from the Yorkshire region, actors from Park Lane College, Nursing staff from LTH Trust and Medical Education staff: Fiona Spiers and Mags Flanagan. This collaboration will be the essence of providing the environment for EM OSCEs:
The Objective Structured Clinical Examination is a form of performance-based testing used to measure trainees’ clinical competence. During an OSCE, trainees are observed and evaluated as they go through a series of stations in which they interview, examine and treat patients.

The day itself consists of:
SAQ Paper (Short Answer Question)
Management (A shift in charge of ED with various management issues )
OSCE circuit (12 stations).

Here is hoping the day will go well for all involved.
