Synopsis: Urology Simulation Boot Camp is an innovative, practical, hands-on interactive simulation rich course which follows the Urology Curriculum for ST3.

30 hours of Technical Skills Simulation training in Cystoscopy, Ureteroscopy, TURP, TURBT, TVT, Botox, Scrotal Surgery, Bowel Anastomosis & Laparoscopy with emphasis on one-to-one hands-on training.

Ten hours of non-technical skills training in the form of simulated scenarios followed by interactive debrief sessions.

Focus on the development of professionalism and excellence in clinical performance required at ST3 level and above.


Assessment & Evaluation

·         Pre & Post-Course MCQ

·         Formative Assessment of Knowledge, Technical and Communication Skills

·         E-BLUS Exam, Endoscopic Skill Assessment

·         Evaluation Survey

·         Peer Observation of Faculty Teaching Skills

Target Audience: Priority will be given to existing or newly appointed ST3 to a UK recognised Urology Training Scheme who hold a training number

Useful refresher for those returning from a period out of training


Places MAY be available for delegates aiming to apply for Urology training at the discretion of the Course Director

Format: Candidates will be divided into groups to rotate around eight Modules:

1.      Scrotal Examination/Testicular Fixation/Hydrocele/Troubleshooting with Catheterisation/Out-Patient Scenarios

2.      Bowel Anastomosis/Stoma Formation

3.      Basic Lap Skills/Access/Lap Trainer Box E-BLUS Exercises/LapMentor Exercises

4.      TURP/TURBT/Bladder Wash-Out/Instruments – Resectoscope & Urethrotome

5.      Emergency Scenarios

6.      Botox/TOT-TVT/Urodynamics/Urethral Bulking Simulation

7.      Simulated Ward Round

8.      URS-Accessories/Cystoscopy Stent/Instruments – Cystoscopy


In addition there will be a small number of evening lectures


Day 5 will consist of Assessments and Lectures

Cancellation Policy: Cancellation of Place 30 days (Sunday 10th September) prior to commencement date: course fees will be returned minus a £50.00 administration fee

Cancellation of Place within 30 days – i.e. after Sunday 10th September 2017) will result in a loss of the full fee
