Welcome

Welcome to the Microbiology Training Programme in the Yorkshire Deanery.

This website is intended to help you to settle in to your new job and answer any questions you may have before starting.

You may begin your training at Leeds Teaching Hospitals (LTHT) NHS Trust Microbiology or at one of the other Microbiology departments involved in the training scheme (see Job Description for details). If you have no previous microbiology experience, the first six weeks or so will be dedicated to learning skills in the laboratory. You will not normally be expected to do on calls during this time.

Most of the five years training is currently spent in Leeds but you will spend six months in Huddersfield/Halifax, and six months in Harrogate/York. A total of six months will be spent in Virology, based at the LGI.
